Our Moving Services from Toronto to Halifax

      Home Relocation
All your belongings (furniture, refrigerators, and anything delicate or fragile) will be moved without damage because they have been packed correctly, loaded carefully, and delivered directly to your new home in Halifax. We can remove and reassemble your furniture, so it arrives undamaged. We'll provide you with all of the packing supplies you will need; you will not have to buy any bubble wrap.
      Moving Condos
Moving condos entails more than normal apartment or house moves because elevators need to be booked, the building has rules and regulations, and hallways are usually narrow. We have dealt with all of these issues in the past and can successfully move all of your belongings out of the condo without damaging the walls.
      Business Relocation
Moving a business from Ontario to Nova Scotia is not like moving your home. We move commercial businesses with the same amount of care as residential moves by securely packing each workstation, server, and filing cabinet individually. We can set everything back up as quickly as possible in Halifax after we arrive. We also offer custom solutions (additions) based on your needs.
      Car Transport
Instead of having to drive yourself 1,800 km from your old location or fly to Halifax before your belongings arrive, we will ship your vehicle to Halifax and deliver it to you upon your arrival. We can transport your car either on a truck or by rail, depending on your needs.
      Pack Service
We can pack your entire home or business, or just a portion of it, with our high-quality packaging materials. We use double-walled boxes to pack heavier items (furniture and appliances) and the appropriate packaging methods for mirrors, paintings, and anything else that is considered fragile. We find that a lot of customers prefer the full packing/unpacking services to reduce the stress that generally occurs during the move.
      Storage
If you are not ready to take all of your items with you when moving, we will store them free of charge for 30 days from the time we picked them up until you tell us to deliver them to you. We offer climate-controlled storage units with secure locks. Your items will be stored until you are ready for them to be delivered to you.

How Our Toronto to Halifax Move Works

      1

We will ask for your inventory.

You can either complete a quote form, or call us for a quick estimate of your inventory. Once we have assessed your inventory, we will validate your request and provide you with an accurate binding quote. The quote you receive will be the price you pay.
      2

We will pack your items if requested

Our team will come to your home with all necessary supplies (boxes, packing tape, etc.) and pack all fragile items first to ensure safe transport, clearly label all boxes, and load all of your items in such a way as to provide maximum protection while being transported.
      3

      We will transport your items

Our professional movers are trained to drive long distances. Your estimated arrival window will be communicated to you prior to leaving your original location, so you will have an accurate time frame of when your items will arrive at their destination.
      4

We will deliver and unpack your items

Our professionals will unload your items at your new residence, reassemble the items upon your request, and place them in the location you desire. Finally, our team will remove the packing materials that were used. Regardless of what point you've been at during your relocation, you will now be at home!

The Cost of Moving from Toronto to Halifax

The distance is 1,800 km. That's a long trip, and the price reflects it. But it also reflects exactly what you're getting — a trained team, a proper truck, insurance coverage and a flat rate based on your actual inventory, not a rough guess, with transparent pricing around real moving costs.

      What affects your cost:

Costs vary based on the size of the move and services needed.

      • Volume of your belongings (measured in cubic feet — this is how we size your space on the truck)
      • Services you add: packing, car shipping, storage
      • Time of year — summer and September are peak season and book fast
      Move SizeApproximate Cost (CAD)
Studio or 1-bedroom apartmentfrom CAD $1,000
2–3 bedroom apartment or housefrom CAD $2,500
      4+ bedroom housefrom CAD $4,008
      Car shipping (add-on)CAD $1,500 – $2,000

All quotes are flat-rate and based on your item list. The price we give you before the move is the price on the invoice after, though additional services like packing, storage or vehicle shipping will affect the final quote.

Reasons Why People Relocate from Toronto to Halifax

Halifax has much more reasonable prices than Toronto whether you're renting or buying, although the housing market is still competitive and prices are rising quickly. A single-family home in Halifax averages somewhere in the high $500,000s, compared with about $1.1M in Toronto.

Access to beaches and coastal nature right from your doorstep is fantastic in Halifax, including spots like Crystal Crescent Beach and the many places along the Historic Waterfront.

Halifax's cost of living runs roughly 15% lower than Toronto's, making it an attractive alternative for buyers leaving the Toronto area.

While Toronto is the major economic centre of Canada, Halifax has abundant employment in health care, education, ocean technology, and an increasingly robust tech industry, all underpinned by a longstanding strong job market.

The average commute in Halifax is under 30 minutes, giving residents more free time to spend with the people who matter to them.

With a population of around 440,000, Halifax is big enough to offer virtually anything you want, but small enough that you actually know your neighbours. That slower, more family-oriented pace can be a real draw for people coming from large urban centres.

      Settling into Nova Scotia

A few things to sort out once you arrive — none of it complicated, but worth lining up early:

      • Driver's licence. You have 90 days to exchange your Ontario licence for a Nova Scotia one.
      • Health coverage. Apply for MSI (Nova Scotia's health plan) when you arrive — there can be a waiting period, so don't leave it to the last minute.
      • Utilities. Set up your accounts with Nova Scotia Power and, if your home uses it, Heritage Gas before move-in day.
      • Address. Update it with the CRA, your bank, and Canada Post mail forwarding.

        Frequently Asked Questions

For a dedicated trailer, transit is usually around 4 to 5 days. If you're on a consolidated (shared) load, the delivery window can run anywhere from 4 to 14 days depending on the season and the service you choose. We confirm your delivery window before we load the truck, so you're not left waiting with no idea when your things will arrive.
No. We give you a transparent, flat-rate quote based on cubic feet, and it's guaranteed to match your final invoice within 1%. There are no hidden charges on delivery day.
Yes. We'll move your vehicle directly to Halifax, either as an add-on or as a stand-alone service. The cost typically runs from CAD $1,500 to $2,000, depending on the size of the vehicle and the transport method you choose.
We protect your items over the full 1,800 km with furniture moving blankets, proper box stacking by weight, interior truck strapping, and edge guards. All fragile items are wrapped for added protection against breakage. We also offer full-value valuation coverage for maximum protection while your belongings are in transit to Nova Scotia.
Spring and fall are ideal — you'll usually find better rates and more availability. Summer is peak season with limited trucks, so book early; 4 to 6 weeks' notice is recommended, which makes months like October and November easy to plan around.
No. An interprovincial move within Canada doesn't require customs or document checks at the provincial border — that only applies to international moves. You'll just want your driver's licence and vehicle registration on hand if you're driving. There are no documents to present when moving within Canada.
